چکیده

Background Performing MRI-guided interventions, such as for the treatment of ventricular tachycardia, requires the ability to rapidly detect and treat acute cardiac conditions, should they occur in the MRI. We developed MRI-compatible 12lead ECG systems, and demonstrated detection of acute ischemia during imaging [Tse, MRM. ‘13,Zhang, MRM. ‘15 ], providing a tool to non-invasively detect cardiac events in the MRI. It is presently necessary to remove patients from the MRI to treat cardiac events. This increases risk, consequently restricting MRI imaging, as well as MRI-guided intervention, to lower-risk patients and lower-risk procedures. Defibrillation in the bore could, therefore, accelerate the growth of diagnostic (such as exercise stress-perfusion and acute post-infarct studies) and therapeutic MRI studies. The study objective is to develop a defibrillation system that can safely be used on patients inside a 1.5 Tesla MRI. In addition, this system should not compromise MRI image quality.

A Magnetic Resonance Imaging-Conditional External Cardiac Defibrillator for Resuscitation Within the Magnetic Resonance Imaging Scanner Bore.

BACKGROUND Subjects undergoing cardiac arrest within a magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scanner are currently removed from the bore and then from the MRI suite, before the delivery of cardiopulmonary resuscitation and defibrillation, potentially increasing the risk of mortality. This precludes many higher-risk (acute ischemic and acute stroke) patients from undergoing MRI and MRI-guided interve...

Voltage-based device tracking in a 1.5 Tesla MRI during imaging: initial validation in swine models.

PURPOSE Voltage-based device-tracking (VDT) systems are commonly used for tracking invasive devices in electrophysiological cardiac-arrhythmia therapy. During electrophysiological procedures, electro-anatomic mapping workstations provide guidance by integrating VDT location and intracardiac electrocardiogram information with X-ray, computerized tomography, ultrasound, and MR images. MR assists ...

Excessive testing in emergent evaluation of children with first unprovoked seizure

Abstract   Backround: The first episode of an afebrile seizure is a common cause of admission   of children to emergency departments. Alot of tests are routinely performed for these patients. The cost of such an evaluation is high and benefits are doubtful. We conducted   this study in order to evaluate the results of the tests and find out what tests are necessary for children with first unp...

THE EFFECT OF NURSE-PEER-LED SUPPORT INTERVENTION ON QUALITY OF LIFE IN PATIENTS WITH AN IMPLANTABLE CARDIOVERTER-DEFIBRILLATOR: A RANDOMIZED CLINICAL TRIAL

Background & Aims: Nowadays, the quality of life and how coping and treatment of patients with an implantable cardiac defibrillator has led to concern and attempts to reduce or eliminate the problems of these patients in the people who provide health care services. This study aimed to determine the effect of nurse-peer-led support intervention on quality of life in patients with an implantable ...

میزان MRI غیرطبیعی در نوریت حاد اپتیک و پی گیری بیماران از نظر بروز مالتیپل اسکلروسیس: گزارش 20 مورد

Twenty cases of isolated optic neuritis (15 female, 5 male) were studied and followed for several months to years after the initial attack. The mean age of patients was 23 years (range: 15-29 years). The most frequent clinical manifestations were decreased visual acuity and blurred vision. A complete neurological examination was performed. In 15 cases (75%) the initial brain MRI was abnormal. I...
